Going into Satomi Jaya in Shiroyama Park, what first catches your eye is the eight dango set. The number eight comes from Nanso Satomi Hakkenden, a well-known fiction story that takes place at Tateyama Castle. The recipe by Yachi-Bachan, or Grandma Yachi, from Yamagata never uses rice powder but instead uses steamed rice to make these dango balls. The highest quality ingredients are used for their toppings as well. Order it before you go for a walk in the park so your dango is ready when you come back (830 yen – tax inc).
