This is a cafe opened in 2019 in front of Tateyama station. While introducing a trendy menu including tapioca drinks, they also serve items that are very representative of Tateyama, including a hybrid combination of croissant cookie, strawberry and fresh cream (350 yen – tax inc).
14 kinds of charcoal roasted coffee beans used at Café Hatayama come from Kobe a few times a week. With over 30 years of experience, coffee hand dripped by the master goes best with his wife’s homemade cakes. Their sense of hospitality is evident in the fresh flower arrangements displayed in the cafe. The coffe set is 850 yen (tax inc).
This café was opened in December 2016, housed in a historical building (a bank) and which is registered as a national cultural asset. While there are a number of coffee shops in Tateyama, the long established Cafe Salvia was the first to produce their own roasted coffee in the area. Their large sized strawberry cake has the perfect combination of fresh whole berries and lightly sweetened fresh cream. Though these cakes are also available to take away, it is a great complement to their delicious in-house coffee.(500 yen – tax exc)

The recipe was first taught to Shinjuku Nakamuraya by an confectioner who worked for Russian Emperor. Today the only shop that still produces these Russian style cookies is Tateyama Nakamuraya. They are twice baked, and then decorated with jam, chocolate, or nuts. These traditional Russian cookies go well with strong coffee or tea.

Their top product is Gyunyu Sembei, or milk cracker, and was created and produced first in 1932 by the owner’s grandfather. As well as being the Gold medal winner at the 19th National Confectionery Contest, this well-known snack is a true representative of sweets found in the Tateyama area. The Boso area is the birthplace of dairy farming in Japan. Using fresh milk and baked by hand, these crispy crackers are a great accompaniment to a relaxing cup of tea.
At this long-established Japanese sweet shop, their Daifuku, Manju, and other sweets are all made by hand each morning. Only high quality, chemical free ingredients are chosen, and a good deal of time and effort is invested, creating a unique taste that you will surely enjoy. Their mochi, or rice cake, an ingredient of Daifuku, is pounded manually.
Inspired by the fresh sea breeze from Tateyama Bay, Nagidora is a traditional Japanese sweet, served with pride. For 140 yen (tax inc), hand made Hokkaido bean paste is wrapped in a fluffy bun. A perfect refreshment on a busy day.
